Meet Karen
Karen is a proud California native, raised in the River Delta town of Walnut Grove. The youngest of three daughters, she is a wife, mother of two, Oma to one, and above all—a friend, ally, and passionate advocate for safety.
Her journey in construction began in 1996 at a national roofing material distributor. Years later, her dedication and service caught the attention of a general contractor who offered her an opportunity she couldn’t refuse. Over the next 16 years, Karen wore many hats, helping to operate the company through both triumphs and challenges.
In 2015, everything changed when a loyal employee suffered a serious workplace injury. The impact was devastating—morale collapsed, production stalled, and quality suffered. Assigned to manage the workers’ compensation case, Karen quickly realized this was not just "a case" —it was about a human being: a father, husband, son, brother, and friend whose life was forever altered. That realization reshaped her perspective.
The incident triggered an OSHA investigation, where Karen’s diligence in maintaining a strong safety program ensured full compliance and no citations. A pivotal conversation with the inspector introduced her to the broader role of safety within California’s DIR. That moment sparked a new calling—Karen returned to school to pursue a career in safety, and she has never looked back.
Since then, Karen has built meaningful connections with frontline workers, executive leaders, and fellow safety professionals. She bridges the gap between diverse roles on construction projects, ensuring successful outcomes delivered on time, on budget, and with zero incidents. She continues to expand her education, offering the most current training and guidance to protect employees while safeguarding company assets.
Beyond her professional life, Karen treasures time with family and friends. She loves music, singing, and dancing, and often experiments in the kitchen—whether it’s homemade ice cream in the summer or comfort food in the winter. She enjoys sports she can play or follow, bike rides, tennis with her husband, and the joy of laughter through stand-up comedy.
Karen believes deeply that you attract the energy you generate. In 2025, a personal journey renewed her appreciation for life and strengthened her commitment to peace and gratitude. Today, she finds joy in nature, meditation, reflection, journaling, and reading. And if you spot her near a body of water, you’ll know she’s at her happiest.
